Which codes apply to MEP drawings in Phoenix?

Phoenix has adopted the 2024 International Codes with Phoenix amendments.

The City of Phoenix moved to the 2024 International Codes, and its Planning and Development Department reviews MEP drawings. Neighbouring Valley cities, such as Scottsdale, Mesa and Chandler, adopt their own editions, so a set for Phoenix may need changes for a suburb.

Home/Arizona/Phoenix/PE Stamping

Do Phoenix, AZ MEP drawings need a PE stamp?

It depends on your project and your AHJ — we check before you pay.

Commercial MEP drawings in Phoenix generally need an Arizona-registered engineer's seal. Many single-family projects don't.

Engineers who seal drawings in Arizona are licensed by the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration (BTR). If your project needs sealed MEP drawings, we confirm during scoping whether an Arizona-licensed engineer can seal your discipline and scope, and we put that in writing in your quote. If we can't arrange the seal for your project, we tell you up front, so you can have your own engineer of record review and seal the set. You never pay for drawings you can't submit.
