Home/Nevada/Codes in Force

Which codes apply to MEP drawings in Nevada?

Nevada codes are adopted locally, and Southern Nevada jurisdictions coordinate their adoptions.

In Nevada, cities and counties adopt their own codes. The Southern Nevada jurisdictions — Clark County, Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Mesquite — adopt the same editions with shared Southern Nevada amendments. Las Vegas and Clark County have adopted the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code and Uniform Mechanical Code. Northern Nevada (Reno, Sparks and Washoe County) adopts its own editions.

  • Building & residential — IBC and IRC with Southern Nevada or local amendments
  • Plumbing — Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), not the IPC
  • Mechanical — Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), not the IMC
  • Electrical — NEC with local amendments
  • Energy — IECC as adopted locally

Because Nevada uses the Uniform codes for plumbing and mechanical, sizing tables and venting rules differ from most states. We design to the UPC and UMC.

Home/Nevada/PE Stamping

Do Nevada MEP drawings need a PE stamp?

It depends on your project and your AHJ — we check before you pay.

Nevada requires drawings for most commercial buildings to be sealed by a Nevada-licensed engineer or architect. Many single-family projects can be permitted without a seal, depending on the jurisdiction.

Engineers who seal drawings in Nevada are licensed by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. If your project needs sealed MEP drawings, we confirm during scoping whether a Nevada-licensed engineer can seal your discipline and scope, and we put that in writing in your quote. If we can't arrange the seal for your project, we tell you up front, so you can have your own engineer of record review and seal the set. You never pay for drawings you can't submit.
